Christopher Belt graduated with a B.F.A in Accessory Design from Savannah College of Art and Design (S.C.A.D). As no handbag and shoe design program existed at the time, Belt successfully petitioned S.C.A.D.’s administration for the creation of a new design major: Accessory Design. In addition, Mr. Belt was chosen as one of the select few designers to have his work highlighted in S.C.A.D.’s yearly Fashion Show Catalog.
Upon graduation, Belt served as an assistant designer for a custom fit missy footwear company supplying shoes to one of the largest American retailers.
After his inevitable move to New York in 2012, Belt designed his first luxury collection for 3Seven&8. A number of handbags from this collection were shown in the final Mercedes Benz Fashion Week at Lincoln Center as the official handbag of an internationally sponsored luxury brand.
Christopher Belt’s creations have been carried by numerous celebrities including Mica Hughes, Rihanna, and Margaret Cho, the host of E! Entertainment Network’s Fashion Police.
Since debuting his first luxury collection, Mr. Belt has designed and executed collections for several globally recognized mass-market brands.
Christopher Belt handbags are crafted of hand-tanned Tuscan leather, solid nickel hardware and the finest nylon thread that will withstand decades of use.
“We use the finest materials we can source, but it’s what we do with these materials that makes the product so special: a striking beautiful handbag that will serve a contemporary woman’s cosmopolitan lifestyle.” says Belt. “Every piece we sell is tested and re-tested to guarantee its quality.”
The structural and decorative details of a Christopher Belt handbag are made beautiful by their usefulness, taking inspiration from art and modern architecture. His handbags include detachable straps equipped with leather shoulder pieces, pockets for handheld devices and other necessities of modern life.
